At age twenty, her body declared war.

Lillian Bernstein was born in 1937 in Montreal, Quebec. At a young age, Lillian endured the hardships of WWII and losing both her family in the Holocaust as she watched her older brother leave home to fight in the war. Soon after, Lillian was diagnosed with LUPUS, a lifelong disease. But there's more to her story than chronic illness - and that's what Lillian wants to share with the world.

Lillian met her everlasting love, Hyman, at the age of thirteen. Lillian and Hyman combatted challenges, made choices, and took chances. Life is a Gift follows Lillian's dedication to the community and her career in education and the artistic environment of a 20th century Jewish and multi-cultural community in the heart of Montreal's golden era.

Follow Lillian's journey of love, family, community, battling chronic illness, and art lived with faith in the good, a collaboration with fate, and belief in better days to come.
